A trip to the Personal Finance section at your local bookstore can be downright overwhelming, what with titles like You're Broke Because You Want to Be, Become a Millionaire in 365 Days, and Forever in Your Debt: Escaping Credit Card Hell screaming at you from every shelf. (By the way, I don't recommend any of these.)

I've often been disappointed when trying to find useful, well-written books about money that don't make me feel like giving up by the third chapter. It's important to start where you are. You may not be ready for a book that explains the difference between index mutual funds and exchange-traded funds, launches you into calculating your net worth, and has you filling out budget spreadsheets that leave your head spinning.
